DEVIL'S MARKET

SUMMARY


After having made a deal with the devil, your family is taken from you. You must travel into three different dungeons, defeat their final bosses, and steal the heart of each dungeon. Only then may you be able to trade your family back.


Devil's market is a room based 2D top down adventure game. The player enters one room at a time on their way through the dungeons, encountering various enemies on the way.


The main challenges of this project were designing each room to be unique enough to stay in the player's memory, and to help the player orient themselves through the dungeon without getting lost while only being able to see one room at a time. One way we worked with this was by using colors and props as "hints" for which room the player is about to enter, and by trying to connect the visuals of the rooms in various ways. For example, a crack in the floor going through several rooms in a row, or a blue pointlight outside the door leading to a blueish room, etc.
